Cornell University is one of many universities in the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CU-CIRTL) network. CIRTL's goal is to "advance the teaching of science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines in higher education through future faculty preparation for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars as part of a national network." While CIRTL tends to focus on STEM fields, I've had the opportunity to be part of a more diverse teaching discussion group that CU-CIRTL is hosting this summer. One of the greatest benefits of this group so far is to hear stories and experiences from other education-focused individuals. I've been learning a lot of new teaching techniques that I'm looking forward to trying out.
